SIEB & MEYER strengthens its presence in North America: As of March there is a distribution agreement with the company SPINDEL Electronics, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company is now the official SIEB & MEYER representative for high-speed frequency converters in the USA and Canada.

SIEB & MEYER will launch nine SD4S device sizes that cover and extend the current power range of the SD2S series.

SD4x Series Grows

As of 2022, SD2M models, which are equipped with state-of-the-art power electronics, will be transformed to the powerful SD4 platform. With regard to functions and control technology, the frequency converters of the SD4x series provide even higher gains compared with the predecessor series SD2x.

Multilevel Frequency Converter SD2M Supports New Power Level

SIEB & MEYER has expanded the application range of the three-level frequency converter SD2M: The increase in output power and the output current to 470 kVA / 800 Arms (at 400 V) allows for powerful system solutions in the sector of turbo blowers and turbo compressors. The manufacturers in this application field can benefit from the SD2M and the already existing device variants across their entire range of services.

New production hall for a higher production capacity

In 2020, SIEB & MEYER AG achieved record results, especially in the business unit CNC controls. After the first four months of the current business year, it is apparent that the positive trend is continuing and even increasing. This development is still driven by the high investment volume in the PCB and semiconductor industries.

Support of Modbus RTU Interfaces

The favored three-level frequency converter SD2M by SIEB & MEYER AG supports yet another interface now: Modbus RTU is an established communication protocol especially in the field of turbo compressors and turbo blowers. Combined with the existing interfaces RS232/485, CAN bus and EtherCAT numerous options are open to users.

Broadening the range of applications

Since last year SD2B plus is available with NRTL certificate and as high-current version. This offers many advantages for customers: On the one hand, the certification facilitates access to the US market and on the other hand, the new device achieves 30 % higher rated and peak currents with unchanged construction volume.

A new construction size complements switch cabinet variant with 800 W / 1.6 kVA

SIEB & MEYER AG reports good progress on the development of the new SD4x series of frequency converters for high-speed applications: Presently, the first SD4S device variant is shipped to customers; a second construction size will soon be ready for market. The initial practical experience has been positive in every respect.

SIEB & MEYER offers extended development platform

With SD3, SIEB & MEYER offers a solution for complex drive tasks such as servo-driven tightening. For this application, the company now provides its engineering software with additional functions that allow realizing EC tightening controls even more quickly.

For applications in the tightening, pressing and lifting technology

The two transducer interfaces of the option module that SIEB & MEYER has recently launched for the servo amplifier SD3 allow a direct evaluation of active and passive torque transducers. They make expensive external evaluation electronics unnecessary and significantly reduce the component production and wiring effort.

The frequency converters of the SD2x family by SIEB & MEYER specialize in operating high-speed motors, which allow only low motor losses. The solutions of the Lueneburg based company are perfectly adapted to this requirement: with the use of SIEB & MEYER solutions, converter-based motor losses are significantly reduced compared to competitive products. Beside the lower motor heating, the system efficiency is increased and power consumption is reduced. Starting with the second quarter of 2020, SD2Bplus by SIEB & MEYER will also be available with NRTL approval and in a high-current version. The NRTL approval allows users to integrate the devices into systems for the US market without additional approval tests. A new high-current version is now additionally available. Without any changes in the construction volume, the version offers a 30% higher rated and peak current compared to the standard version.

Based on the new development platform SD4x, the company from Lueneburg is working on a new, future-proof device series. The devices support new interfaces and offer a number of additional functions. Users will benefit from higher speeds and from a significantly enhanced performance. The first step has already been taken: SD4S is the first device of the SD4x product family. This frequency converter is designed for small high-speed spindles or motors in a power range of a few hundred watts.

Based on the new development platform SD4x, the company from Lueneburg is working on a new, future-proof device series. The devices support new interfaces such as PROFINET, EtherCAT or Biss and offer a number of additional functions. Users will benefit from higher speeds and from a significantly enhanced performance.

SIEB & MEYER extends the SD2M product portfolio in terms of performance. In the 1st quarter of 2020, SIEB & MEYER will launch a liquid-cooled variant with 450 kVA@480 VAC power and 630 Arms rated current. Although this device has 50 % more power than the 300 kVA variant, the construction volume stays the same. The extremely compact dimensions of about 1,200 mm x 450 mm x 350 mm (HxWxD) allow a space-saving integration into the customers' systems.
